Chris was born in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, in 1973 and grew up in Liverpool. After obtaining a HND Applied Physics he moved to Manchester in 1997 to begin working as an engineer for Micromass, a major mass spectrometry manufacturer based in Wythenshawe.
He lives in Chorlton-cum-Hardy in the constituency of Manchester Withington and is proud to have been selected to represent the constituency at the next General Election. Chris stood as the Conservative candidate for Chorlton Park in the 2008 local elections and is pleased that the popular momentum behind the Party in the North West has been maintained. This has resulted in the Conservative Party's success in the 2009 European Elections and becoming the strongest party in the North West.
Chris is the Deputy Chairman of the Manchester Federation and is also a branch Chairman so has been heavily involved in campaigning across Manchester. The success of the campaign against the Congestion Charge, resulting in an overwhelming referendum defeat for the TiF bid, was a particular high point, especially as it shows how insular and out of touch the Labour leadership in the city is and how divided and ineffective the Liberal Democrat's are.
Having worked for Micromass, AstraZeneca and now Waters, Chris is a passionate advocate for investment and support for UK based scientific research and manufacturing. Not only to create and maintain a diverse economy and World class business but also to give opportunity to everyone in Britain whether their strengths are academic or vocational.
